Top Anti-Theft Apps for iPhone
Getting your phone stolen is annoying, stressful and can be expensive if you don’t have insurance – but app developers have created a few ways you can hit back. Here are a few of the best apps to help you deal with a theft.
Find My iPhone (free)
Apple’s own anti-theft software is still one of the best. This app lets you see the location of your phone at all times (or if it’s been switched off, its last known location). You can also lock and wipe it remotely to ensure your data doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
Hidden Anti-Theft (free download, subscription fee required)
As well as the usual online tracking and GPS location data, one of the cleverest features of this anti-theft app is the option to activate a fake alarm clock message. The thief needs to look at the screen to turn it off, at which point it’ll take a photo of their face.
iGuard Anti-Theft (£0.69)
This app tries to stop your phone from being stolen in the first place. Once activated, it uses your phone’s gyroscope sensors to detect movement, and it’ll let out a piercing alarm if anybody tries to swipe your phone.
