The Witcher Coming to Mobiles – For Free
The Witcher 3 is shaping up to be one of next year’s biggest titles: with an immersive open world that’s 20% bigger than Skyrim’s, and a solid foundation of two games and a whole series of books to build its gritty fantasy world upon, there’s no question that the February 2015 release will make a big splash.
Now mobile gamers have a tasty treat to look forward to: developer CD Projekt Red is developing The Witcher: Battle Arena for iOS, Android and Windows Phone, with a release scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014. The multiplayer online battle arena game will let players duke it out as various characters from the Witcher series.
“With mobile devices as powerful as they are and the graphics they offer being so beautiful, we can finally plunge into mobile gaming and deliver our take on free gaming to gamers worldwide,” said Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt Red.
Best of all, the game will be entirely free to play, with all content unlockable by playing rather than paying – although the developer has mentioned that an optional “reasonable fee” will let people unlock content faster.
