What is Post Office mobile phone insurance?

The Post Office have offered many types of insurance over the years, recently entering the mobile space. The cover is provided by a specialist third party who a customer would deal with to manage their policy or make a claim.

Their cover provides protection against the four main elements of damage, breakdown, theft and loss. The difference with their product mainly lies in the excess payments you make when claiming, which are relatively low compared to the rest of the market. 

What are the cover differences between Post Office phone insurance and our own?

What is the level of cover? Only one level of cover offered (full cover) with variable excess amounts starting from £25. Two levels of cover to choose from:

Does the policy include Worldwide cover? 45 days of worldwide cover. Our worldwide cover goes with you, provided that this is in line with current government guidance.
How much is the excess? If you make a claim within the first 31 days of cover, your excess will increase by £50.
  • Only one excess amount for each cover level.
  • No hidden costs.
  • Same excess for every type of approved claim.
When can I cancel?
  • You can cancel anytime.
  • Full refund provided if you cancel within the 14-day
    cooling-off period.

Are there cancellation fees?
  • Administration fee of £15 for cancellation of annual policies, if a claim has not been made during the insurance period.
  • Refund for the proportionate premium of the unused cover. If a claim has been made during the one year of insurance, no refund will be due.
  • Free to cancel anytime at no extra cost.
  • For annual policies, you will be refunded for the proportional premium of the unused cover.
  • Refund will still be issued for annual policies for the
    unused cover, even if you have made a claim.
