Comparing AppleCare+

For a few years now, Apple have offered some form of protection for all of their handsets.

AppleCare+ provides two levels of mobile phone protection, with their insurance policies also giving priority technical support for the iPhone.

Whilst Apple's devices are no doubt some of the best around - we've looked at how their insurance compares to our own.

What is AppleCare+?

Every Apple device purchased from the Apple website, or from an Apple authorised retailer, gives you the option to activate AppleCare+ within your iPhone settings. What that includes can vary by country or by type of device, but we've compared what you could expect from AppleCare+ phone insurance for UK iPhone users.

How much does AppleCare+ cost?

The price of AppleCare+ depends on the value of your iPhone. For example, the iPhone 13 Pro (128GB) costs £189 for AppleCare+ or, £239 for AppleCare+ with Theft & Loss.

The table below provides a guide for other iPhones (entry level storage size).

Is AppleCare+ worth it?

Like with any insurance policy, AppleCare+ gives you the peace of mind that your phone is protected with the added benefit that if something happens, the maker of your device - i.e. Apple, is responsible for repairing it.

We suggest that you consider the wider policy benefits, any exclusions, and not to mention the cost, to ensure that you are getting value for money. The below table shows the comparative annual policy cost of AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss against our own Full Cover policy. Costs for different storage sizes will vary.

AppleCare+ with theft & loss vs. our Full Cover

If you have an iPhone and you want to ensure that it has the right protection, with high quality repairs and replacements, there are a few options open to you. For example, you could insure your iPhone directly from Apple, and you could also look at network providers such as Vodafone who provide insurance with AppleCare Services and EE who offer AppleCare+ with their iPhones.

Before you jump straight in and buy any insurance plan, we’d suggest you take a little time to consider which one is right for you.

We've compared the different elements of the AppleCare+ cover to our own policy below to give you a view of the most important parts of the cover.
