Warhammer 40k Coming to Mobile

Games Workshop’s much-loved Warhammer 40,000 franchise is making its first move to mobile devices, with a new real-time tactical strategy game due to launch on iOS and Android this autumn. Complex Games is developing The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault, in which players will choose a side in an epic civil war, create and customise their own Space Marine chapters and battle for dominance of various territories.

“We are thrilled to be working with Games Workshop on the first videogame set in the Horus Heresy”, said Noah Decter-Jackson, chief executive officer of Complex Games. “We have been dedicated Warhammer 40,000 gamers since we first started playing games, and we are confident that the tactical experience we are bringing to mobile will satisfy what 40K fans have been craving.”

Players will be able to build chapters with friends and challenge others around the world. However, any game based on a franchise with such a devoted fanbase is bound to come under scrutiny, and eyebrows are already being raised at the game’s free-to-play nature and its apparent similarities with Clash of Clans.
