Samsung S5 to launch in April

At the massive Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas the VP of Samsung: Lee Young Hee announced that the new Samsung S5 will be launching in April 2014. The new handset will be revealed at the GSM Conference on Barcelona in February in preparation for the launch in April.

The new handset, which will be another crucial step, for Samsung might include iris recognition software. This will no doubt spark flurries of interest and iris scanning has not previously been used out side commercially available technology such as airport scanners.

It is said that Iris scanning is far more secure than finger print recognition software used in the latest Apple mobiles.

At the same time rumours have been spreading that the new iPhone will be a mere 3 millimetres thin. Sounds incredible but Apple do enjoy springing things on an all adoring public.

So even at the very start of 2014 the big news in terms of mobile handsets is coming from the same two giants of Apple and Samsung. Not good new for the others such as HTC, Nokia and Blackberry who must be desperate for some good news to claw their way back to significant market share.
