Rumours surrounding the new Samsung S22

Interested in the new Samsung S22 phone range? Due to be released in early 2022, we’ve brought together some of the more concrete rumours surrounding the upcoming Samsung S22 phone.

When will the new Samsung phone be released?

Some of the latest rumours suggest we could expect the S22 range to arrive in early February which according to Toms Guide is a month later than originally expected.

What can we expect from the Samsung S22 range?

We’ve seen rumours that consider the design of the S22 to be similar to the Samsung S21 but the new Galaxy phone may have smaller dimensions than it’s predecessor.

We could also see the removal of the 'punch hole camera' at the top of the display on the S22, to enable a true full-screen design. Alongside the Galaxy S22, we should see the release of the S22 Plus and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The main chip powering the Galaxy S22 could be the new Snapdragon 895, which is said to be a 4nm chip. The Galaxy S22 could offer 3,800 mAh batteries, the Galaxy S22 Plus a 4,600 mAh battery, if these rumours are true, then both of these would be a downgrade on the current Galaxy models. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to retain the 5,000 mAh size of its predecessor.

How much will the new Samsung S22 models cost?

The latest rumours seem to suggest a slight increase in the release on the new Samsung range. Toms Guide suggests that the “Galaxy S22 will reportedly increase to an $849 (£837*) starting price, the Galaxy S22 Plus to $1,049 (£787*) and the Galaxy S22 Ultra to $1,299 (£974*). “

*Estimated price.

Colours?

TechRadar suggests that the colours for the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus may come in white, black, rose gold, and green colours. Whilst the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra may come in a choice of black, white, or dark red.

Other differences?

The Galaxy S22 Ultra's rear camera ultra-wide-angle camera will stick to 12MP, and a brace of telephoto cameras will sit at 10MP but come with improved sensors
Whereas the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus could include a 50MP main camera lens, plus 12MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses.

Also rumoured is that, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may support Samsung's S Pen stylus and may even have a slot for this.
